Nurses for Construction Sites*
Over the past 2-3 years, Kinetic Nursing Services have been involved in supplying several teams of nurses to construction sites. These have included various power stations and cement works. These environments by their very nature can be extremely dangerous, dirty, noisy and somewhat daunting to anyone not familiar with them.
Our nurses were on site principally to offer advanced first aid as well as to treat minor ailments and injuries. Statistics compiled during one project demonstrated the benefit of having the nurses on site by assisting workers to remain on site rather than visit A&E or their GP surgery. Also, it should be pointed out that our nurses attended at least 20 call outs during this time and were called upon to act in an emergency and life saving manner.
The nurses supplied were carefully selected for their experience and professional maturity, and were not daunted by this potentially hazardous environment. In these situations close collaboration with on-site Health & Safety teams is vital, nurses have to be prepared to access an injured worker anywhere on the site, this could involve climbing up high on scaffolding or entering restricted spaces.
